Gratitude is at the heart of our Community Service Program. It is imperative that students understand not just the power of raising funds for a cause but also the power of committing to a cause with time, effort, and money when needed.
Beginning in grade three, we engage our students in CSP. Each grade brainstorms ideas on how to help their community (beginning at our school and moving to the larger community around us in Beijing, China, and the world).
Students then select specific organizations or people to contact. They draft a letter requesting information on how they can help.
Once they have their answers, students work with teachers to design service projects that make a real difference in our community. Once they have completed a service project (or at the end of the year for an on-going project), students are asked to reflect on their experiences and what or how they might change them in the future.
